Managing Men in the Workplace

When I interviewed The Prosperity Sisters in 2011, I talked to them about their amazing cakes at Full-Spirited Flavors. I didn’t know then that the youngest sister, Kathy Lanyon (pictured, on left), was still working full time. Kathy is an IT manager with a department that spans the globe. With thirty-one men and one woman on her team, she’s been handling gender and cultural issues along with normal management problems.
Because so many women find that being a woman in management is often a problem with the men in their departments, last month I chatted with Kathy about how she makes it work.
