Mid-Life Caregivers
With parents living longer, mid-life caregiver has become a common title, along with sandwich caregiver. It’s a real hot topic for those of you who are in it and doing it.
As I mentioned on the show, my spouse and I were the primary caregivers for our moms. When we were doing it, you might have thought we were only children…but we both have three siblings. That’s not unusual, according the what Elder Law attorney, Cathy Sikorski. In fact, it a common caregiver problem.
That’s what we were talking about at Happy Hour and Cathy gave you mid-life caregivers some good info about critical “must know” issues, like power of attorney, insurance, Medicaid and more. She has a wealth of legal knowledge and personal experience with caregiving, so I’m inviting her back for more in the fall.
In the meantime, you can find Cathy Sikorski on her website and read her blog at CathySikorski and find her on twitter @cathy_sikorski. Also, Cathy has a new book coming out soon: Showering with Grandma: Confessions of a Serial [Killer] Caregiver. I’m already looking forward to reading about care-giving through Cathy’s lens of fact and compassion sprinkled with humor.
I also talked about my trip to NC, including the Patsy Cline exhibit. Here’s the picture I “illegally” took, that is, I took it before I saw the “no pictures” sign.
Here’s a link to see some of it on the museum’s website: Patsy Cline Exhibit. And here’s the YouTube link to hear Patsy singing her hit song, CRAZY.
I’ll be posting more pictures of my NC trip on my FB page at VictoriousWomanProject.
Before we left today, during Chick Chat, Pam Mariani and I talked about the trend toward size 000. Here’s an article I mentioned: SIZE Triple 0
QUESTION FOR YOU: When Cathy Sikorski comes back in the fall, what questions do you want me to ask her? Post your questions below.
